Today we celebrate my blog being a year old. YAY! Time flew by! If feels just like yesterday I was creating a website and trying to figure out how I would even manage to get an audience. As I sit in the coffee shop reflecting over the past year, I realize just how many things I achieved and how many I haven’t (yet)! Although it is hard to hear the negative feedback and jokes about my blog, I am overjoyed by the support and positive feedback…which is what keeps me going! It is definitely a learning process and I only plan to grow from here! I have so many things planned to blog about this next year and I cannot wait to share them with you!
Looking back through posts, I noticed that I haven’t shared a lot on my blog about me and I want to be more personal….so I’m going to share 20 random facts about me!
1.) I am addicted to coffee.
As mentioned above, I am currently typing this post in a coffee shop while sipping on a vanilla latte. Funny thing is that I used to hate coffee and it wasn’t until I was in college that I started to force myself to drink it to stay awake in my 8am classes (freshman mistake). However, I think I’m immune to it now and its more of an addiction because it does not have an affect on me anymore.
2.) My favorite animal is a giraffe.
Take me to a zoo and I will cry tears of happiness as soon as I see a giraffe and want to stand there admiring them for about an hour.
3.) I am 5’8.
While growing up, I hated my height and always wanted to be short. Mainly, because I cheered my whole life and I was the tallest flyer. Now, I love my height and like to think I own it.
4.) I dream of living in New York.
The city of dreams! I would love to work in the fashion industry and live in Manhattan. However, I should probably visit New York first before moving there….and not to mention, make a better income to afford it!
5.) I am obsessed with taking pictures.
If you follow my Instagram story…you know this! I do not consider myself a photographer, but I do enjoy taking pictures of my life and sharing a few. I actually get texts from friends asking if I’m alive or okay if I skip a day of posting something on my story. I’m still not sure if that is a good thing or not.
6.) I currently live in College Station, TX.
Just so you know, I am not an Aggie. My move here was a spur of the moment decision…literally. My stepsister came down to visit and we went to dinner with our parents and they said “hey, move out of the house and move to College Station and y’all can live together” and I said “okay, sounds good.” I then found a job, signed an apartment lease, and moved here without even visiting the town! Crazy, I know!
7.) I am not a morning person.
I apologize in advance if you run into me and try to have a conversation with me before I have my morning coffee. To be honest, it’s best to just not contact me until 10:00am.
8.) I have never been on a plane.
People are always shocked by this one. My family never really traveled and the couple times we have been out of state, we have driven to the destination. I am not scared of heights, but I do have major anxiety when I think about going on a plane. However, I do plan on overcoming this fear soon because I have so many places I want to travel to.
9.) I prefer talking on the phone rather than texting.
I would much rather spend 2 hours on the phone talking and not touching my phone, than having to check it every 5 minutes to respond to a text. I am also the worst texter and forget to respond most of the time.
10.) I love dancing.
I am always dancing. I love looking at pictures from a photoshoot because mid through I have a mini dance session and those are the best photos. (I might post some one day). Also, every time I see a mirror…its like my body has a mind of its own and starts dancing. My friends either dance with me in public or constantly tell me to stop.
11.) Family is HUGE to me.
I cannot express this one enough. Both sides of my parents families are super close and I love it. It makes the holidays really fun and enjoyable. Not to mention, I have a huge family.
12.) I constantly get accused of my ID being fake because of my last name.
My last name is Vasquez and apparently, I do not look Mexican. (who would have guessed) LOL. I am a quarter Mexican from my dads’ side.
13.) I hate drinking water.
Wish I could drink coffee 24/7 and have perfect skin and amazing health benefits from it. I constantly have to remind myself to drink water every day. The only time I’m good at drinking water is when I’m at the gym.
14.) I worked really hard to overcome a horrible speech problem.
When I was younger I was told that my speech was terrible and I would be in speech classes even in college. My mom has home videos of me and you couldn’t understand anything I was saying…it’s like I had my own language. Needless to say, I spent everyday on my speech and I graduated from speech class in 5th grade! To this day I still struggle with some words, but it is so much better!
15.) I am not good with time.
Usually, I am always running late. Even if I’m running on time…something seems to always happen and I’m late. Also, if I say I’m going to be somewhere, it’ll usually be an hour later. This is something I really need to work on and I am not proud of.
16.) I am a mama’s girl.
Moving out was hard for me. I might be 21 years old…but I will still sit in her lap and cuddle with her! I also call her everyday and probably get on her nerves, but she never shows it. She is the most loving and independent person I know and look up to her in every way possible.
17.) I’m a picky eater.
The older I get, the more I am trying to “broaden my horizons” and try new things but it’s really tough for me. It would be so much easier if my taste buds only liked healthy food…but instead they love unhealthy grease.
18.) I have the movie Bring It On memorized.
You probably never want to watch this movie with me. I will quote the whole thing.
19.) I am not big into makeup.
Most of the time, I just wear mascara. I would much rather sleep more than to wake up early to do all my makeup. So if you ever catch me wearing a lot of makeup….know I was having a really good morning!
20.) I love worship events.
It’s beyond beautiful to see people coming together to praise our mighty God.
That was a lot longer than I expected but I hope that helps you learn a little bit more of me.
Also, thank you for reading this post and I hope you stick around another year! XO!
